Our main mission is to make the artistic values of music culture accessible and accessible to the public. By organizing music festivals and cultural events we want to offer this service to the widest possible range of interested people and listeners.
You are cordially invited..
Festival Objectives:
- Continuity with the huge Dvořák tradition of the region
- Expansion of the festival to other cities
- Promoting the culture and tourism of the area
- Performing concerts in interesting concert venues
- Supporting the young generation of artists and regional natives
- Diverse genre dramaturgy (classical, jazz, folk, rock and more)
- Increasing the level and quality of promotion of the festival in individual cities
- Targeting promotion to individuals and selected target groups (youth, families with children)
- The festival is based primarily on the great tradition and prestige of one of the most famous Czech personalities in the world – the composer Antonín Dvořák. The incredible tradition of the Dvořák Festival, the oldest music festival with Dvořák’s music in the world, was a huge challenge to expand it from Turnov and Sychrov to include not only other places where Antonín Dvořák stayed, but also nearby places where he spent a significant part of his free time or performed.
- The Dvořák Festival is one of the few Czech festivals that combines culture and tourism with the presentation of the participating towns and their dominant historical monuments or tourist attractions.
- To promote tourism, the Dvořák Passport with coupons for discounted admission to a number of interesting tourist attractions in the region was launched again this year.
- Emphasis is placed on situating concerts in historical places, often national cultural or regional monuments, in an effort to make them more lively and attractive through the festival events.
- The festival aims to support the younger generation of artists, to promote regional authors and artists and to be multi-genre. Young artists have the opportunity to participate in the Youth Interpretation Workshop, which is already a traditional part of the festival and is led by experienced lecturers from among professional artists.
- This year, the festival’s genre diversity was represented to a greater extent, and in addition to classical music concerts, listeners could hear genres such as jazz, spiritual, folk, rock and folk song. Sacred music also found its place at the festival in the organ recital by Aleš Bárta in Nová Paka. There was also the traditional literary and musical section, which this year presented e.g. Otakar Brousek or Valeria Zawadska or Sasha Rashilov. The concerts were arranged within a unified dramaturgical concept, in which the promotion of the festival throughout the target region was also conducted.
- Promotion and attendance of the festival: Thanks to the significant support of partners and supporters, the current level and quality of promotion of the festival in each city has been maintained in order to increase attendance and visibility of the festival.
In addition to large-scale advertising and radio promotion, efforts were made to target promotion at individuals and selected target groups. During the 22 festival concerts, the capacity of the halls in some towns was up to 100% (Mělník, Mnichovo Hradiště). Unfortunately, the attendance in some cities did not quite match the organiser’s expectations. As a result, we can then state the above-mentioned 70% attendance rate with regard to the capacity of the halls. The Dvořák Festival concerts were attended by around 2000 people.
- Selected target groups: young people, families with children, visitors to subscription concerts in individual cities. Within the framework of various partnership events, it was possible to target promotion more at selected target groups and offer them discounted admissions or other benefits.
